Opera Boston
Opera Boston’s mission is to offer only new and thought-provoking productions of newly-commissioned or important but rarely performed works. Committed to drawing upon the Boston area’s rich pool of artistic talent and to introducing new performers and production artists to the city, Opera Boston also enriches the community through award-winning and innovative outreach and education programs. In 2011, Zhou Long was honored with the Pulitzer Prize in Music for Opera Boston’s first commissioned opera, Madame White Snake.

Review posted by: S F Music Lover from San Francisco, MA USA, Mar 03, 2010
Was in Boston and knew the legend of the White Snake. I took the risk (!) of seeing a new opera by a company I had heard a little about in SF. Loved most of the production. It has a few story... Expand

"Terrific libretto; awful music"
Review posted by: SC from Newton, MA, Mar 02, 2010
Actress playing White Snake has a beautiful voice and wonderful stage presence - very convincing as a new human after 1,000 yrs as a snake, yearning for love. Music was horrendous - way too "avant... Expand
