Vibrant contemporary theatre is a lot closer than you think. The award-winning, critically-acclaimed Merrimack Repertory Theatre is the region's only professional theatre company, centrally located at the convergence of Routes 3, 93 and 495 in the heart of historic downtown Lowell.

Directions and Parking

MBTA Commuter Rail: From Boston to Lowell's Gallagher Terminal, take the Lowell Line from North Station.

Driving: Merge onto I-495S via exit 44B. From I-495S, take exit 39 to Rte. 133W. Follow Rte. 133W for approximately 4 miles to Rte. 38N (Nesmith Street). Turn right onto Rte. 38N and turn left at the next stoplight (E. Merrimack Street). The theatre is three blocks down on the right.

      The plot was timely and the acting was just so-so except for the Mother. Son did a convincing character but I had trouble with the daughter. The stage was set at the restaurant so that two of the charcters faced and spoke to each other which was difficult for the audience. The daughter's voice was not strong enough (all should have had mikes)and as a result words were missed. The Mother's acting was over the top and most enjoyable plus believable. I just couldn't get into the character of the daughter, as I thought she played a weak part. Other than that, I have always enjoyed the presentations of Merrimack Rep Theater. Collapse

      Another wonderful show at the Merrimack Repertory Theater!! The two women cast put on a show that made you laugh, cry, and truly question our motives when trying to pursue our careers! Set during the depression, this show gave us an inside look into one of the many WPA projects, and how much it meant to our country. These two actresses were magnificent!The singing is phenomenal! Anyone interested in Black history folklore and songs will LOVE this play! Don't miss this show!!! Collapse

      This was one of the worst plays I have ever seen. None of the characters were likable or believable. The slow development of the plot was like pulling teeth.       I saw it on Sep 11th and thought it was a bit rough in places. The juggling was excellent; the songs were a bit long and drawn out; the dances were very funny; the dialogue was somewhat rushed especially at the beginning and was difficult to hear, but that might have been due to the fact that the sound engineer hadn't got the space equalized exactly right; it did settle down as the evening progressed. I plan to go again at the end of the run and see how they've improved things. I love the FKBs but haven't seen them in at least 15 years. Only one of the original FKBs is in this show, but their juggling is peerless and they are extremely entertaining. Well worth the effort and a great evening out! - Wil Collapse
