The Hanover Theatre

The Hanover Theatre for the Performing Arts seeks to create a vibrant cultural destination, bringing world-class theatre, music and entertainment events to central Massachusetts. In doing so, we will:

* Participate fully in the revitalization of downtown Worcester by bringing patrons into the Federal Square area for performing arts events, dining, and shopping.

* Restore a historically and architecturally significant venue.

* Provide a vital resource for central Massachusetts' performing arts, cultural and civic organizations and colleges.

Based on extensive research of other successful venues nationwide. The Hanover Theatre estimates its economic impact to the city of Worcester at approximately $40 million annually, in direct and indirect spending, jobs, property values and taxes. In addition, The Hanover Theatre will enhance the city's Arts District by creating an exciting performing arts destination for patrons of all ages. The Hanover Theatre will reach a wider audience than any other arts organization in our area-more than 170,000 patrons each year.

    03/20/09	Capitol Steps The Hanover Theatre Capitol Steps Presented by The Hanover Theatre at The Hanover Theatre March 20, 2009 The Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom ("Don't quit your day job!"), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience. ...

      I loved the show. The relationship between Patsy and Louise was the perfect vehicle to tell a story that highlights Cline's music. The music was excellent and the play was packed with it.

      The Hanover is a beautiful theater and a great venue for this performance. The live holiday music played from the organ on the stage before the performance got everyone in the Christmas spirit. This is a classical adaptation of the Dickens' classic and hits the theme dead on. The sets are amazing as they morph from street scenes, dwellings, and places in Scrooge's past, present and future. Performances by all cast members were very professional right down to the period costumes, dances, and English accents. If you're looking for an innovative or edgy adaptation of A Christmas Carol then you might want to go to Trinity Rep in Providence. As for me I'll be going back to the Hanover for this classic performance when I'm in need of the Christmas spirit. Collapse

      I went to see the show on October 16, which was nearly 3 weeks before my school's opening night production. The show was really fantastic and the poppies, Ozians, winkies, flying monkeys, and jitterbugs were incredible! Cassie Okenka singing "Over The Rainbow" just blew me away, along with Pat Sibley as the devious Wicked Witch Of The West! And the dog playing Toto named Dusty was irresistible along the munchkins, they were so adorable!! Watching this gave me a good idea about the show's layout, and it helped with knowing what to expect for opening night. Once again, great show and with adorable kids and as the munchkins, plus one cute dog as Toto!! It was awesome! Collapse

      Hello, I attended the Sunday afternoon performance of The Wizard of OZ with my sister and niece. We were beyond amazed and impressed with everything from the moment we entered the theater until it was time to leave. We loved the singing ushers too. The performance was flawless, the acustics and lighting made it easy to see and hear everything no matter where you're seated. What a gift Hanover Theater is to Worcester! Collapse
