  Endearing, heartfelt, charming? That's how these seven characters in "Quartermaine's Terms" are described! I don't think any of these adjectives apply. Self-centered would be closer to the truth. I remember seeing this play some 20-25 years ago with the remarkable Remak Ramsey, and at the time I thought, his colleagues bordered on being cut-throats. All, except Quartermaine, who's clueless about the lives and events around him -- can't even remember the student who sends him postcards of gratitude. This version, they all seem softer, except for Jefferson Mays who gives his own interpretation of a man who has no life and wishes not to develop one. But apparently, Quartermaine loves the school (which teaches foreign students English) and cheers (sometimes inappropriately) whenever something positive for the school is reported. But he's oblivious to events occurring to his faculty mates -- a nice job. But to describe the play as charming or anything less than a tragic is off the mark. Collapse

  This was a wonderful performance! The acting was absolutely superb - probably one of the finest examples of live acting I've ever seen. Corddry and Sparks were outstanding and were completely into their characters as feuding siblings. Kunken played a great Hollywood producer, and added depth to his time onstage. I wish the part for Rupp was longer, I would have loved to see her onstage more! Definitely go see something at the Williamstown Theatre Festival - the venue is gorgeous, the staff is great, and the little town is so cute! Collapse
