John Beck, Deputy Director
A graduate of Tufts University, John Beck originally joined ArtsBoston in 2001 as the organization’s Member Service Coordinator and became the Member Service Manager in 2003 as the program expanded to meet the evolving needs of Boston’s dynamic cultural sector. In this role, Mr. Beck was instrumental in the 2004 launch of the ArtsBoston Big List. Mr. Beck was promoted to Director of Operations in 2006 and assumed the newly created position of Deputy Director in 2010. During his tenure with ArtsBoston, he has been an integral leader on the successful development and implementation of some of ArtsBoston's signature programs, including the ArtsBoston Big List, BosTix.org, and, most recently, the ArtsBoston.org cultural calendar and information resource. Mr. Beck is currently developing financial, operational, and evaluation infrastructure for the implementation of ArtsBoston’s 2011 strategic plan, with a particular focus on ArtsBoston.org content syndication, the creation of a new cultural participation market analysis initiative, and development of data collection tools for program assessment. Mr. Beck has presented at the National Arts Marketing Project and Association of Performing Arts Service Organizations Conferences on audience development and the role of arts service organizations.
