Excellent singing, creative and energetic choreography, very clever writing and adaptation of G & S lyrics and style. Lots of laughs. We couldn't have asked for more.

I thought that this version was hideous and did no justice to Gilbert and Sullivan. I agree with Ms. Kennedy's review in the Boston Globe...in every way! This is not what I went to the theater to see. I did not go to see disgraceful characters who milked the practice of drinking literally ad nauseam and vomitam; I did not go to hear music which was barely reminiscent of the original; I did not go to see a modern-day non-operetta, where formerly there was a spunky operetta. Our anticipation misled by a Globe review; we were quickly drawn into the show and the fun the cast seemed to enjoy all night! The familiar music was heartily sung, and the lyrics were pleasingly accessible due to the great sound system. As usual, the Huntington stage and costume designing added to the fun. Collapse

I started watching this with mixed feelings - I love G&S;but I'm not usually keen on musicals with dance. But my suspicions were lulled and I was quickly charmed by the show. It kept the true spirit of a Gilbert and Sullivan musical, updated a little for modern sensibilities, with a judicious dose of Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow thrown in. The music, the singing, the casting, the costumes, the sets, the choreography - all of it was really well done. I laughed through the whole thing. Well done, Huntington Theatre! It's the pirate's life for me! Collapse

This was a very funny show. Surprisingly up to date, with jokes even about events of the preceding few days. Unlike many comedians, Tingle does not equate raunchiness with funniness; when there was sexual humor or (rare) foul language it was done in a context meant to be funny rather than offensive. I will definitely attend next time I hear that Tingle is performing. Collapse

Brad Paisley put on the most incredible show! My son received these tickets for his 10th birthday and was put front row, center stage by a friend. He is definitely Brad's #1 fan and was so excited to see him up close. After an unbelievable show with some of his greatest songs, he ended the show by placing his cowboy hat onto my sons head! His feet have not touched the ground since. I guess that goes to show that the incredible performer we have all adored for so long is an even more incredible person. Thanks Brad! Collapse

We really didn't know what to expect, but that being the case we didn't have a lot of expectations going in. The kids were ages 5 and 7; and mostly kept up with everything. It was fairly lively. Peter and the Wolf was their favorite. While I personally enjoyed Ben's Trumpet (the last piece), it was a bit long for the kids, but the music was great. I have to say, I really liked the whole idea of livening up ballet! It doesn't have to be boring! The biggest drag was the limited parking available in the area. Collapse
