Last Friday I biked across Cambridge in my rain gear with an overweight backpack and a change of shoes. Let's face it: waiting in line for The Donkey Show, I wasn't anyone's definition of cool. Two hours later, I left Club Oberon with a "VIP pass" inviting me to come back with a friend--apparently the result of my conspicuously joyous dancing (and smart marketing). Talk about transformative theater! Boston has its share of visionary, energetic directors at the moment, but Diane Paulus is the first to realize a truly revolutionary production. Yes, this show delivers great, sexy entertainment: you get sparkly boys, butterfly boobs, and 70's bling galore. But The Donkey Show is also a celebration of US, of our community, of the collective effervescence that we as audience radiate across the fourth wall. I laughed and cheered with people of all ages, races, and sexual orientation as the drama embraced us. Go be transformed by The Donkey Show--Boston theater, change has arrived! Collapse

We enjoyed watching the Blue Man group show with our kids aged 11 and 17! Everyone had fun! 17 year old loved the party atmosphere of the drummers,the humor, where 11 year old was mesmerized by the stares of the weird trio dressed sort of like the heroes that he enjoys playing in his video games and the way they pick/invite people from the audience was a lot of fun to watch. We took our grandsons (10 and 14), who were up for a week from Florida. Some initial "Another ugh idea from our grandparents." THEY LOVED IT and were smiling all through the show! They raved about it... Expand
We took our grandsons (10 and 14), who were up for a week from Florida. Some initial "Another ugh idea from our grandparents." THEY LOVED IT and were smiling all through the show! They raved about it and insisted on staying afterwards for photographs with the Blue Men and the band. Kudos to the Blue Men and band for staying after the show and being so patient to stand for photos with everyone who asked for pictures! My wife and I have been to the show before and were taken with the subtle changes made to the show setting it apart from just a repeat for us. We will definitely go again! It was a great night out. We highly recommend it for parents (or grandparents) who want a truly all generation show that will win you points with the younger generation and give you some "you are really a little cool after all!" My husband and I took his parents to see a 6:00 show on 6/27. They're big theater buffs and we all had a great time. It was great entertainment and offered a bunch of laughs. I wouldn't want to take... Expand
My husband and I took his parents to see a 6:00 show on 6/27. They're big theater buffs and we all had a great time. It was great entertainment and offered a bunch of laughs. I wouldn't want to take young kids to see it. Since some of it is improv, some jokes or innuendos can get a little hot. I'd say 13+ anyway since it is a cabaret style theater (bar). Collapse
