Riverside Theatre Works is currently in French’s Opera House, which was built in 1897 by Leroy J. French. The Hyde Park Gazette described him as one of the town's "most progressive and enterprising business men." In the early years, the House featured a variety of productions, most of which were vaudevillian; including minstrel shows, dramatic recitations, comedies and operettas, and a range of acts that defy description. This entire block of buildings was destroyed by fire in 1899. It was soon rebuilt and operated for years as an entertainment venue. From 1916 until 1977, the theater was used as the Masonic Temple of Hyde Park and Masonic Hall.

Riverside Theatre Works has been renting this space since the early 1980’s.
