Stitch with wire, raffia, rope on found materials, wood, paper and more. Great for mixed media artists, fiber artists and anyone interested in incorporating stitches into their art. Learn basic stitches and problem-solve quirks and challenges involved in using alternative materials.

Build a basic sloper, the basis of all patterns, following the figure?s natural lines and dimensions. Beginners learn about shop safety and etiquette, wood, milling, joinery, layout, basic hand and power tools. Continuing students develop their skills on more complex projects. Called ukiyo_e, these ?pictures of a floating world? depicted all parts of daily life. This non_toxic medium allows for subtle transparent color washes, painterly color gradations, detailed textures and unique images. Spend a summer week making a Maloof_inspired one_person bench with a sculpted seat. As you continue to increase your comfort with basic tools, also learn to make plugged tenon joints, sculpt with rasp and spokeshave, and sharpen hand tools. Conclude with an oil_wax finish.
