2011 Tchaikovsky Piano Competition Winner on Tour - A Special Evening
Presented by Music Worcester, Inc. at Mechanics Hall March 17, 2012 The iconic International Tchaikovsky Competition, every four years in Moscow, was first held in 1958. The winner of the first piano competition was Van Cliburn, who went on to achieve the status of an idol to world-wide audiences. Van Cliburn performed at the 102nd Worcester Music Festival in 1961 before a sold out house of 3,200 at the Memorial Auditorium.
