Learning from the Masters: The Art & Craft of Fiction
Presented by Professional Studies at Emerson College at Emerson College
May 27-July 29, 2010
This creative writing workshop is for students interested in learning to think as a writer thinks—considering both inspiration and technique. In order to uncover the secrets of great writing, our class time will be spent analyzing classic stories by authors such as Hemingway and Fitzgerald, as well as contemporary greats like Munro and Carver. Throughout the course, students will use these lessons to write their own stories for workshop. About the Instructor: Cam Terwilliger is a recipient of a Massachusetts Cultural Council Fiction Fellowship, as well as a Somerville Arts Council Fiction Fellowship. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in West Branch, Post Road, The Mid-American Review, The Greensboro Review, The Sycamore Review and others. Cam’s been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and has received an Academy of American Poets Prize and The Allegheny Review Prize for fiction. Additionally, Cam holds an MFA from Emerson College, and has served as a reader for The Atlantic Monthly, Ploughshares, and The Rhode Island Council on the Arts Fiction Fellowship Judges Panel.
