September 16, 2010
“Extreme Dog: What Right Do Our Pets Have To Be Saved?” with Dr. Nick Trout (Angell Medical Center), John Ensminger (Dog Law Reporter), and Dr. Joann Lindenmayer (Tufts Cummings Veterinary School); moderator Monica Collins (Ford Hall Forum Board member) Thursday, September 16, 6:30-8 pm [includes book signing] C. Walsh Theatre, Suffolk University Have we as a society gone too far in treating dogs with difficult prognoses? Stories of dogs who live against the odds are heartwarming but is there such a thing as going too far to save a dog’s life? If so, where is the line? Is it based on the cost of the medical attention, the projected time and effort for recovery, or some other criteria? And who decides – the state, the legal system, or the owner (if there is one)?
