Presented by The Arsenal Center for the Arts at The Arsenal Center For The Arts
September 9-October 16, 2010
Curated by mixed media artist Kathy Halamka, photographer Jay Bordage, photographer Gary Duehr, photographer Margaret Hart, photographer Kelly Anona Kerrigan, painter/drawer Gail Martin, and painter/mixed media artist Natacha Sochat play with transformations of persona and identity. Taking control of desire, intent, humor and transience, the artists expose both human frailty and power in the creation of persona. The question remains, what defines identity in an age where perceptions of gender, age, culture and the physical body are highly mutable? You might turn the corner at the spacious Arsenal Center for the Arts and discover the wry liberation of Superwoman, or a reassembled puzzle of the human form. Each artist’s work will inspire you in a different way to rethink your views on persona and identity.
