Your Action Is Needed Now – Override MCC Budget Cut

Last Friday afternoon, Governor Baker issued a budget veto that would slash funding for the arts through the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) by 55%. This cut would reduce state cultural funding to levels not seen since 1994.

On July 1, the Massachusetts Legislature approved a state budget for FY17 that included $14 million in funding through the MCC; this veto would reduce it to $6.5 million.

The chairs of the Legislative Cultural Caucus and the Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development Committee are circulating a letter amongst their fellow legislators, calling for an override of the Governor’s veto.

Please spread the word through social media and your own networks.

House members could vote to override the veto as early as tomorrow.

Your action is needed now.
